Gulab Jamun Recipe
Gulab juman prepare
Sure, here's a simple recipe for preparing Gulab Jamun, a popular Indian dessert:
Ingredients:
1 cup milk powder
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
2 tablespoons ghee (clarified butter)
2 tablespoons milk (warm)
A pinch of cardamom powder
Oil or ghee for frying
For the sugar syrup:
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
A few strands of saffron
1/2 teaspoon rose water (optional)
Instructions:
Start by preparing the sugar syrup. In a saucepan, add the sugar and water. Bring it to a boil and let it simmer for about 5 minutes until the sugar dissolves completely. Add the saffron strands and rose water (if using) and simmer for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
In a mixing bowl, combine the milk powder, all-purpose flour, and baking powder. Mix them well.
Add the ghee and cardamom powder to the dry ingredients. Mix it with your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Gradually add warm milk to the mixture and knead it into a soft and smooth dough. If the dough feels dry, you can add a little more warm milk.
Divide the dough into small portions and roll them between your palms to form smooth balls. Make sure there are no cracks on the surface of the balls.
Heat oil or ghee in a deep pan or kadai over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, reduce the heat to low and carefully drop the prepared dough balls into the oil. Fry them gently, stirring occasionally, until they turn golden brown in color. It will take around 6-8 minutes.
Remove the fried Gulab Jamuns from the oil and drain them on a kitchen paper towel to remove excess oil.
Drop the fried Gulab Jamuns into the prepared warm sugar syrup. Let them soak for at least 20-30 minutes so that they absorb the syrup and become soft and spongy.
Serve the Gulab Jamuns warm or at room temperature. You can garnish them with chopped nuts like almonds or pistachios if desired.
Enjoy your homemade Gulab Jamuns!
