How to prepare chicken kebab
Chicken kebab is a delicious and popular dish that can be prepared in various ways. Here's a simple recipe to help you make chicken kebabs:
Ingredients:
1 pound (450 grams) boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons plain yogurt
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground paprika
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
1/2 teaspoon salt
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Skewers (wooden or metal)
Instructions:
1. In a bowl, combine olive oil, yogurt, lemon juice, minced garlic, cumin, paprika, coriander, turmeric, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to form a marinade.
2. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and toss to coat them evenly. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or ideally overnight to allow the flavors to develop.
3. If you are using wooden skewers, soak them in water for about 20 minutes before using. This will prevent them from burning during cooking.
4. Preheat your grill or oven to medium-high heat.
5. Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto the skewers, leaving a small gap between each piece.
6. Place the skewers on the preheated grill or on a baking sheet if using the oven.
7. Cook the chicken kebabs for about 10-12 minutes, turning them occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and slightly charred on the outside. The cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the chicken pieces, so make sure to check for doneness.
8. Once cooked, remove the skewers from the heat and let them rest for a few minutes.
9. Serve the chicken kebabs hot with a side of rice, salad, or flatbread. You can also garnish them with fresh herbs like cilantro or parsley and squeeze some lemon juice over the top for added flavor.
Enjoy your homemade chicken kebabs!
