- 2 tablespoons mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 2 green chilies, slit lengthwise
- 1 cup mustard greens (sarson leaves), finely chopped
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
For the marinade:
- 1 tablespoon mustard oil
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
Instructions:
- Clean and wash the fish fillets. Pat them dry with a paper towel.
- In a bowl, mix together the ingredients for the marinade - mustard oil, lemon juice, turmeric powder, and salt. Coat the fish fillets with this marinade and let them sit for about 15-20 minutes.
- In a pan, heat mustard oil over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
- Reduce the heat to low and add turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, and coriander powder. Stir well to combine the spices with the oil.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and green chilies to the pan. Cook for a minute until the raw smell of the ginger-garlic paste goes away.
- Add the chopped mustard greens (sarson leaves) to the pan and cook until they wilt down.
- Place the marinated fish fillets on top of the mustard greens in the pan. Spoon some of the mustard sauce over the fish.
- Cover the pan and cook on low heat for about 10-15 minutes or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
- Once cooked, gently transfer the fish to a serving dish, spoon the mustard greens and sauce over the fish.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or roti.
