Steamed Garlic Prawns

Sure! Here's a simple recipe for steamed garlic prawns:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450 grams) large prawns, peeled and deveined
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine or dry sherry
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Fresh cilantro or parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, combine the minced garlic, soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice wine or sherry, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine and set aside.

  2. Place the prawns in a shallow dish or a steamer basket. Make sure the prawns are arranged in a single layer for even cooking.

  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, pour it over the prawns, coating them evenly.

  4. Pour the garlic sauce mixture over the prawns, making sure they are well coated. Toss gently to distribute the sauce evenly.

  5. Prepare a steamer by filling a large pot with a few inches of water and placing a steamer rack or basket inside. Bring the water to a boil.

  6. Carefully place the dish or steamer basket with the prawns into the steamer. Cover the pot with a lid and steam the prawns for about 6-8 minutes, or until they turn pink and are cooked through. Be careful not to overcook them, as they can become rubbery.

  7. Once the prawns are cooked, remove them from the steamer. Garnish with fresh cilantro or parsley, if desired.

  8. Serve the steamed garlic prawns hot as an appetizer or as a main dish with steamed rice or noodles.

Enjoy your delicious steamed garlic prawns!
