Bhel Puri recipe

Bhel Puri is a popular Indian street food snack that is known for its sweet, tangy, and spicy flavors. It is made with a combination of puffed rice, sev (crispy noodles), chopped vegetables, chutneys, and various spices. Here's a recipe to make Bhel Puri:

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups puffed rice
  • 1 cup nylon sev (crispy noodles)
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup boiled and diced potatoes
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped cucumber
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped raw mango (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped coriander leaves
  • 2 tablespoons tamarind chutney
  • 2 tablespoons green chutney
  • 1 tablespoon chaat masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (optional, adjust to your spice preference)
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon juice to taste

For garnishing:

  • Nylon sev (crispy noodles)
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, add puffed rice, nylon sev, chopped onions, tomatoes, potatoes, cucumber, raw mango (if using), and coriander leaves. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
  2. Add tamarind chutney and green chutney to the bowl. Toss the mixture to coat all the ingredients with the chutneys.
  3. Sprinkle chaat masala, roasted cumin powder, red chili powder (if using), and salt over the mixture. Squeeze some lemon juice on top.
  4. Mix everything together until all the ingredients are well combined and coated with the spices and chutneys.
  5. Taste and adjust the seasoning or add more chutney if desired.
  6. Garnish the Bhel Puri with additional nylon sev and chopped coriander leaves.
  7. Serve the Bhel Puri immediately in bowls or cones made of newspaper or paper cups.

Bhel Puri is best enjoyed right after preparation as the puffed rice tends to lose its crispness over time. It is a delightful and refreshing snack that offers a burst of flavors and textures. Feel free to customize the ingredients and spice levels according to your preference. Enjoy the tangy and savory Bhel Puri!
