Ingredients:
- 4-5 slices of bread (white or whole wheat), cut into small pieces
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 small tomato, finely chopped
- 1 small green chili, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon urad dal (split black gram)
- 1/2 teaspoon chana dal (split Bengal gram)
- A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to your spice preference)
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
- 1 tablespoon oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnishing
- Lemon wedges for serving (optional)
Instructions:
- Heat oil in a pan or kadai over medium heat.
- Add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Then add cumin seeds, urad dal, and chana dal. Sauté for a minute until the dals turn golden brown.
- Add asafoetida and chopped green chili. Sauté for a few seconds.
- Add the finely chopped onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
