mushroom curry

Certainly! Here's a recipe to prepare mushroom curry:

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro (coriander leaves), chopped
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed

Instructions:

  1. Heat the cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and let them splutter.

  2. Add the chopped onions to the pan and sauté until they turn golden brown.

  3. Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger and cook for a minute until fragrant.

  4. Add the chopped tomatoes and green chilies to the pan. Cook until the tomatoes become soft and mushy.

  5. Now, add the sliced mushrooms to the pan and stir well to coat them with the onion-tomato mixture. Cook for a few minutes until the mushrooms start to release their moisture.

  6. Add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt to the pan. Mix well to combine all the spices with the mushrooms.

  7. Cover the pan and let the mushrooms cook on medium-low heat for about 8-10 minutes, or until they are tender and cooked through. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

  8. Once the mushrooms are cooked, sprinkle the garam masala powder over the curry and mix well. Cook for another minute to allow the flavors to meld together.

  9. If the curry looks too dry, you can add a little water to adjust the consistency. Start with 1/4 cup of water and add more if needed.

  10. Finally, garnish the mushroom curry with fresh cilantro leaves.

Your flavorful mushroom curry is now ready to be served. It pairs well with steamed rice, naan, roti, or any bread of your choice. Enjoy!
