Palak Paratha prepare

Palak Paratha, also known as Spinach Paratha, is a healthy and flavorful Indian flatbread made with spinach and whole wheat flour. Here's a recipe to prepare Palak Paratha:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2 cups fresh spinach leaves, washed and finely chopped
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (optional)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Water, as needed
  • Ghee or oil, for cooking

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and a pinch of salt. Gradually add water and knead to form a smooth and soft dough. Cover the dough and let it rest for about 15-20 minutes.

  2. In a separate bowl, add the finely chopped spinach leaves, finely chopped onions, green chilies, grated ginger, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder (if using), and salt. Mix everything well and let it sit for 5 minutes. The salt will help release moisture from the spinach.

  3. After 5 minutes, squeeze out any excess moisture from the spinach mixture. This step is important to prevent the parathas from becoming soggy.

  4. Divide the dough into equal-sized portions and shape them into balls. Take one dough ball and flatten it slightly with your hands. Dust it with flour and roll it into a small circle of about 4-5 inches in diameter.

  5. Place a spoonful of the spinach mixture in the center of the rolled dough circle. Bring the edges of the dough together and seal the stuffing inside. Flatten the stuffed dough ball slightly and dust it with flour.

  6. Roll the stuffed dough ball gently using a rolling pin into a circular paratha of approximately 6-7 inches in diameter. Take care not to press too hard, as it may tear the paratha and cause the stuffing to spill out.

  7. Heat a tawa or griddle over medium heat. Place the rolled paratha on the hot tawa and cook it on one side until you see small bubbles forming on the surface.

  8. Flip the paratha and cook the other side. Apply ghee or oil on both sides of the paratha and cook until it turns golden brown and crispy.

  9. Repeat the process with the remaining dough and stuffing to make more parathas.

  10. Serve the Palak Parathas hot with yogurt, pickle, or any chutney of your choice.

Palak Paratha is a nutritious and delicious way to incorporate spinach into your meals. It can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and is especially great for kids who might not enjoy eating spinach in its raw form. These parathas are best served hot and can be paired with a variety of accompaniments to enhance the flavors.
