How to prepare. Chicken Dijon.

Ingredients:

  • > 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • > Salt and pepper to taste
  • > 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • > 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • > 2 tablespoons butter
  • > 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • > 1 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
  • > 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • > 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • > 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • > 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. 1. Start by seasoning the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Dredge each chicken breast in the all-purpose flour, shaking off any excess.

  2. 2. In a large skillet or frying pan, heat the olive oil and butter over medium-high heat.

  3. 3. Once the pan is hot, add the floured chicken breasts to the skillet. Cook the chicken for about 5-6 minutes per side or until they are golden brown and fully cooked. The cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the chicken breasts. Remove the cooked chicken from the pan and set it aside on a plate.

  4. 4. In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until it becomes fragrant.

  5. 5. Reduce the heat to medium-low, and then add the chicken broth, Dijon mustard, and dried thyme to the pan. Stir everything together, making sure to scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.

  6. 6. Let the sauce simmer for a couple of minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly.

  7. 7. Slowly pour in the heavy cream or half-and-half while stirring continuously. Let the sauce simmer gently for another 2-3 minutes until it thickens to your desired consistency.

  8. 8. Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.

  9. 9. Return the cooked chicken breasts to the skillet, nestling them into the sauce.

  10. 10. Simmer the chicken in the Dijon sauce for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

  11. 11. Optional: Garnish with chopped fresh parsley for added color and freshness.

Serve the Chicken Dijon over cooked rice, pasta, or mashed potatoes, and pour some of the creamy Dijon sauce over the chicken. This dish is perfect for a special dinner or when you want to impress your guests with a flavorful and elegant meal!
