Jelly Donut Breakfast Bake

indian recipe

Ingredients:

For the Breakfast Bake:

➤6 to 8 plain or glazed donuts, preferably stale (about 4 cups when cubed)

➤1/2 cup raspberry or strawberry jam or jelly

➤4 large eggs

➤1 cup whole milk

➤1/2 cup granulated sugar

➤1 teaspoon vanilla extract

➤1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

➤Pinch of salt

For the Topping:

➤1/4 cup all-purpose flour

➤1/4 cup brown sugar

➤2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and cubed

➤Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9-inch (23x23 cm) baking dish or a similar-sized          casserole dish.

2. Cut the stale donuts into bite-sized cubes. If your donuts are not stale, you can leave them out to air        dry for a few hours, or you can toast them in the oven for a few minutes to help them dry out.

3. Spread the cubed donuts evenly in the greased baking dish.

4. In a small saucepan, warm the jam or jelly over low heat until it becomes a bit more liquid and                easier   to spread. Pour the warmed jam over the cubed donuts.

5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground            cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.

6. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the donuts and jam in the baking dish. Press down on the donuts          gently to make sure they absorb the liquid.

7. In a small bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and brown sugar for the topping. Cut in the cold,             cubed butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

8. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the donut mixture in the baking dish.

9. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center        is   set.

10. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. You can dust the top with powdered         sugar for a more authentic donut look if desired.

11. Serve your Jelly Donut Breakfast Bake warm, either as a special breakfast treat or a delightful                brunch dish.

Enjoy this sweet and indulgent breakfast bake that captures the essence of jelly-filled donuts!
